Our first preliminary meeting was held January 2, 1912 at the Laclede courthouse for citizens interested in insurance on farm property.† The purpose of the meeting was to initiate a County Mutual Insurance Association under Article X, Chapter 61 of the Missouri Statues of 1909.
Wm A Garretson had drawn a constitution and by-laws, which he submitted for approval. Five board members and a president, G Schneider were elected to become the first Laclede County Mutual named Mutual Insurance Association of Laclede County.†
In May of 2002, a Certificate of Amendment was filed and our name changed to Laclede Mutual Insurance.† Our first insurance policy was written on February 7, 1912 for the sum of $1,000 on house and contents, to our present amount of over $3,000,000 in premium today.†
With over 3,700 policyholders, Laclede Mutual Insurance continues to meet the needs of our customers by providing property and casualty coverage to our insuredís throughout the state of Missouri.†
